A place to come back into relationship — with yourself, with others, and with the life you are living.
Living in another country can be enriching, expansive and full of possibility.
And it can also leave us feeling strangely between worlds.
Perhaps you have built a life in Berlin, but something in you still doesn’t quite feel at home. Perhaps you are going through a transition, a loss, a relationship crisis or a period in which the familiar ways of navigating life no longer seem to work.
Sometimes what we need is not another solution, but a place where we can slow down, listen more deeply, and begin to understand what is asking for our attention.
I offer counselling and psychotherapy in English, Spanish and German, in person in Berlin-Charlottenburg and online.
Perhaps you are living between worlds
You don’t have to have moved countries to know the feeling of living between worlds.
It can happen when a relationship ends. When we become parents. When children leave home. When we lose someone. When our work or identity changes. When a life that once fitted us no longer does.
Living internationally can add another layer.
We move between languages and cultures. We may belong to several places and, at times, feel entirely at home in none of them. Relationships and family may stretch across countries. Even the question Where is home? can become unexpectedly difficult.
I know this territory not only professionally, but personally.
After many years of living in Spain, my own life now moves between the Mediterranean oak woodlands I call home and Berlin, the city where many of my roots lie.
I no longer believe that belonging necessarily requires us to choose one world over another.
Sometimes the deeper task is to discover how to belong to our own lives — wherever we are.

What might bring you here?
People come to counselling and psychotherapy for many different reasons.
You may be experiencing anxiety, sadness, grief or loneliness. You may find yourself repeating patterns in relationships that you understand intellectually but somehow cannot change.
Perhaps you are navigating a major transition, separation, relocation or loss. Or perhaps nothing is obviously “wrong”, yet you feel disconnected from yourself, from others, or from the life you are living.
Therapy can offer a protected space, offering a hand which I feel we need to explore one´s inner landscapes — including the parts of ourselves that learned, often for very good reasons, to protect us and meet more vulnerable, younger parts that are alive in us.
Rather than asking only “How do I get rid of this?”, we can begin to ask:
“What is this trying to tell me?”
How I work
Hi, I’m Eva Marlene Eckermann.
My background is in psychology, psychotherapy, coaching and nature-based approaches to human wellbeing.
My work is relational and integrative. Depending on what you bring, it may include conversation, work with emotions and bodily experience, inner-child and IFS-informed approaches, exploration of patterns and protective strategies, and attention to the wider relationships and environments in which your life unfolds.
I don’t see therapy primarily as a process of fixing what is wrong.
I see it as an opportunity to understand ourselves more deeply — including the ways we learned to survive, adapt and protect ourselves — and gradually create more freedom in how we relate to ourselves, to other people and to life.
At the heart of my work is a simple question:
What helps us come back into relationship?

Between nature and the city
My own work moves between two very different landscapes.
I live and work from the Mediterranean oak woodlands of rural Spain, where nature is part of my everyday life and deeply informs the way I understand human experience, relationship and change.
And regularly, I return to Berlin — the city where I studied psychology and where my own roots reach back — to offer in-person therapeutic work in Charlottenburg.
For me, these are not two separate worlds.
The movement between them has become part of my own exploration of belonging: how we can carry our roots with us, grow new ones, and perhaps stop asking ourselves to choose between the different places and parts that have shaped us.
This experience also informs my work with people who live internationally or find themselves navigating life between cultures, languages and different senses of home.
Where we can meet
In Berlin
I offer in-person counselling and psychotherapy usually every first week of the month in a shared therapeutic practice in Berlin-Charlottenburg. – The first session serves to get to know each other and is free.
Sessions are available in:
English · Español · Deutsch
Online
Between my periods in Berlin, we can also work together online.
This can be particularly helpful if you travel frequently, live between countries, or simply prefer the continuity and flexibility of meeting from your own space.

Begin with a conversation
Meet me
Finding the right person to work with matters.
Before deciding anything, we can meet for a free 20–30 minute initial conversation.
It is simply an opportunity for you to tell me a little about what brings you here, to get a sense of how I work, and for us both to see whether working together feels right.
There is no obligation to continue.
